About the Collection

"For SS 2014 Men’s, rag & bone draws inspiration from traditional Japanese and French workwear. Grounded in authentic Japanese techniques and fabrics, military and minimalistic sportswear shape the collection’s sensibility. ""We wanted to effectively strip back timeless pieces and inject them with a purer, more modern aesthetic. Japanese techniques such as Sashiko were a key focus. The collection is predominantly military and sportswear inspired with a sartorial undertone."" – Marcus Wainwright Silhouettes span from slim-fitting sportswear-influenced jackets and streamlined fatigue pants to long mac styles and oversized combat shorts. Dominant fabrications encompass Sashiko indigo, salt finished traditional Japanese workwear fabric,
two-tone canvas cotton hemp, wax coated technical poplin and white washed coated canvas. The addition of Japanese glen plaid wool envisioned in suiting and a buckle-back jean lends a sartorial edge. The Japanese influence continues with a key print, a kimono-esque Hawaiian motif, which also features as an exploded floral design. Clean and linear, silver zips provide the collection’s hardware focus. The palette runs from statement hues such as bold French workwear blue, true indigo to neutrals, including glacier and raven greys, sage green, jet black and optic white. The athletic bent extends to the collection’s sleek footwear with raised tread soles. Trawler hats and die cut sportswear bags act as key accessories."
