Swedish street artist Rubin takes his turn at the Houston Project this month. The artist starting tagging when he was just ten years old and is now exhibiting at galleries around the world as well as during festivals like Art Basel Miami.
He shares a bit about the inspiration behind his Project below:
“I'm very drawn to cityscapes and the visual appearance of New York City has been a major inspiration in my artistry. The color choices reflect the grit of the city, the trains, the bridges, the steel constructions and the skyscrapers. I'm also inspired by my Scandinavian heritage and I like to keep my pieces clean and minimalistic and play with suggestion. Someone described the circle as a peek into a gothic and dystopic version of the city... I like that description.”
